Sweet Potato Nevryo

Nevri (Plural : Nevryo) is a semicircular shaped sweet (typically sweet, though there are the spicy variety too) which is mainly made during Ganesh Chaturthi festival in Goa. It’s almost like a puff – having a flour based cover, with a sweet stuffing inside and deep fried. The recipe here is of a slightly different variety, i.e. the cover is made of sweet potatoes and its shallow fried. Sounds interesting? Check out the recipe.

Puran Poli

Puran Poli is a traditional sweet flat-bread which is made in India in the States of Goa and Maharashtra. It is usually served on auspicious occasions as dessert and during festivals like Holi and Padwa.

The stuffing is called as ‘Puran’ and the outer layer is called as ‘Poli’. Today being the festival of colors-Holi, I made Puran Polis for the first time. They turned out very good and my husband and kiddo both enjoyed them a lot. Here is the colorful recipe card for Puran Poli. Happy Holi to everyone!!!

Strawberry Phirni

Phirni is a very creamy sweet rice pudding popular in North-India. A few days back, I suddenly found myself with an excess of both strawberries and milk in the fridge. And Strawberry Phirni was the perfect dessert which uses both these ingredients. The preparation was quick and it turned out great. Give it a try!
