Veg Calzone

A calzone which is known to have originated in Naples, Italy is basically made up of bread dough shaped like a half moon and has some stuffing.

Usually calzones are made with all purpose flour. However, this particular recipe uses whole wheat flour and hence is healthier. You can make any stuffing of your choice. Mix together your favorite ingredients and cheese and you have the stuffing ready. You can make it smaller in size and serve it as a bite sized appetizer or make bigger calzones which will serve as a meal by themselves.

Capsicum Eggplant Lasagne

Of all the Italian food, Lasagne is my favorite. I tried out this recipe of Lasagne a few days back and the results were amazing. So try it out and you are sure to love it.

Note that for this recipe I have used direct baking Lasagne sheets which do not require pre-cooking. But I prefer to place them in boiling water for a minute before using them so as to moisten them.

Chicken Spaghetti

Feel like eating Italian, but not in the mood to drive to your favorite Italian restaurant? Well.. here’s a not too complicated recipe which you can prepare with some readily available ingredients in your kitchen.

I love Italian food. But heading to a restaurant with an infant isn’t an all easy job. Firstly you have to get her bag ready- its almost like a mini-picnic bag. Secondly you got to inquire if the restaurant has a high chair that suits an infant. Often explaining what I mean itself is a tiring task. Surprisingly very few restaurants in Bangalore have a child seat that suits an infant, i.e. the one with a strap. And if all this fits well, my little one should be awake and in a good mood around the time we decide to go out. Phew!!! lots of planning right… So I thought I might as well plan to make some Italian food at home. 🙂

So here’s the recipe for Spaghetti with chicken and veggies in a tomato based sauce.

Veg Pizza

Anyone for Pizza?

Here is a recipe for pizza made from the scratch i.e including the pizza base. I had made pizza several times before, but with a ready made base. But after making the base at home, I don’t think I will ever bother to buy pizza base from the store again.

So there you go…let Mr. Yeast do its job and get a nice fluffy dough, load the pizza with a combination of your favorite toppings and if you are a cheese lover like me, add as much cheese as you want to get a delicious, yummilicious pizza…Do let us know how it turns out…

I am planning to try this recipe again with whole wheat flour pizza base as a healthier alternative… So stay tuned…and I will definitely let you know how it turns out.
