Manganney or Chana Dal Payasam is a sweet typically made during festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi in Goa. Its a fairly easy to make one and tastes great hot or cold. This sweet is supposed to complete a pure vegetarian thali during Goan hindu festivities.

Ingredients:
Chana Dal : 1/2 cup (soaked and boiled)
Jaggery : 1/2 cup
Scrapped Coconut : 1 cup
Cashew Nuts : 1/2 tbsp
Cardamom Powder : a pinch
Method of Preparation:
- Extract coconut milk using the scrapped coconut and around 3/4th cup water. You should have around 1 cup of coconut milk.
- Add the boiled chana dal, jaggery and coconut milk in a big pan and bring to a boil.
- Add the cashew nuts, raisins, cardamom powder and salt. Mix well. Boil for another 3 min and switch off the flame.
This sweet can be served hot or cold – tastes equally yummm ?
