Chicken Manchurian is a delicious recipe in which chicken pieces are cooked in a Chinese sauce. It is among my favorite dishes and when combined with Fried Rice, it makes a mouth watering meal.
In my family, everyone loves Chinese food. It is among our favorite cuisines to order when we go out to dine. A few days back, we all felt like eating Chinese and this time I thought I would make something at home. I thought of trying Chicken Manchurian with Egg Fried Rice. Both the dishes turned out awesome. My hubby and daughter both loved it.
Chicken Manchurian is great to be served as a starter or also can be served with the mains, as I did this time.
Here is the step by step Chicken Manchurian recipe with pictures:
Serves: 3-4
Preparation Time: 20 minutes
Cooking Time: 15 minutes
Ingredients:
Boneless Chicken: 400 gms cut into small pieces
Egg: 1
Pepper Powder: 1/4 tsp
Cornflour: 6 tbsp
Soya sauce: 1 and 1/2 tbsp
Ginger: 2 inch piece finely chopped
Garlic: 8-10 cloves finely chopped
Onion: 1 medium chopped
Green Chilies: 3-4 slit vertically
Green Capsicum: 1 medium cut into thin strips
Spring Onion green: 2 stalks finely chopped
Vinegar: 1 tbsp
Salt: to taste
Method of Preparation:
- Mix the egg, 4 tbsp cornflour, pepper powder, salt and 1 tbsp soya sauce in a bowl. Add the chicken pieces and mix. Set aside for half an hour.
- Mix the remaining cornflour in 1 cup of water and keep aside.
- Heat sufficient oil in a pan and deep fry the marinated chicken for 2-3 minutes. Drain on absorbent paper.
- Heat oil in a kadai and stir fry the ginger and garlic for a minute.
- Add onion and green chilies and stir fry till translucent.
- Stir in remaining soya sauce, 2 cups water and salt. Bring mixture to boil.
- Stir in cornflour and cook for a minute or more till sauce starts to thicken, stirring continuously.
- Add chicken pieces and capsicum and cook for couple of minutes.
- Stir in vinegar and garnish with spring onion greens. Serve hot.
