Dal Palak or Spinach Dal combines the goodness of Toor Dal and Spinach (Palak) into a delicious curry which tastes good both with rotis and rice. The finely chopped garlic pieces enhances the flavor of this curry.
Ingredients
Onion: 1 finely chopped
Garlic: 10 cloves finely chopped
Palak (Spinach): 5-6 cups chopped
Toor Dal: ¼ cup
Scraped Coconut: ½ cup
Tamarind: 1 marble sized ball
Green Chilies: 2 big
Turmeric Powder: ½ tsp
Salt: to taste
Instructions
Grind the coconut, green chilies and tamarind into a smooth paste.
Pressure cook the dal, palak and onion (5 whistles).
Heat oil in a pan. Add garlic and stir fry till brown.
Add ground paste and dal-palak mixture to the pan. Mix well.
Add turmeric powder and salt along with little water. Close lid and bring to boil.
