Dal Palak or Spinach Dal combines the goodness of Toor Dal and Spinach (Palak) into a delicious curry which tastes good both with rotis and rice. The finely chopped garlic pieces enhances the flavor of this curry.
Ingredients
  • Onion: 1 finely chopped
  • Garlic: 10 cloves finely chopped
  • Palak (Spinach): 5-6 cups chopped
  • Toor Dal: ¼ cup
  • Scraped Coconut: ½ cup
  • Tamarind: 1 marble sized ball
  • Green Chilies: 2 big
  • Turmeric Powder: ½ tsp
  • Salt: to taste
Instructions
  1. Grind the coconut, green chilies and tamarind into a smooth paste.
  2. Pressure cook the dal, palak and onion (5 whistles).
  3. Heat oil in a pan. Add garlic and stir fry till brown.
  4. Add ground paste and dal-palak mixture to the pan. Mix well.
  5. Add turmeric powder and salt along with little water. Close lid and bring to boil.
