- Grated coconut: 4 tbsps
- Toor Dal: ½ cup
- Cumin seeds: ¼ tsp
- Asafoetida (Hing): Pinch
- Turmeric powder: ½ tsp
- Sugar: Pinch
- Salt: ¾ tsp
- Soak the toor dal in 1.5 cups of water for around ½ hour and cook it in a pressure cooker (3-4 whistles)
- Grind together the coconut, cumin seeds and asafoetida.
- Mix together the toor dal and the ground mixture.
- To this, add salt, turmeric powder and sugar. Close lid and bring to boil.
