- Basmati Rice: 2.5 cups
- Onion: 2 medium finely chopped
- Green Peas: 1.5 cups
- Carrots: 2 cups cut into thin strips
- Cinnamon: 3 pieces
- Cardamom: 8
- Cloves: 12
- Bay Leaves: 3
- Cumin Seeds: 1 tsp
- Oil: 4 tbsp
- Water: 6.5 cups
- Salt: 3.5 tsp
- Wash and soak rice in water for ½ hour.
- In a pan, heat oil. Add cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, bay leaves and cumin seeds. Stir fry briefly.
- Add onion and stir fry till translucent.Add carrots and green peas and fry for 2 minutes.
- Add rice and salt and fry for 2 minutes.
- Add the water. Close lid and let cook on medium heat till rice is completely cooked.
