Buttermilk appe is an easy snack or breakfast recipe. The slightly sweet and sour taste makes it an instant hit among all.
Ingredients
  • Buttermilk: 1 cup
  • Semolina : 1 cup
  • Beaten rice : 4 tbsp
  • Jaggery : ⅔rd cup
  • Scrapped Coconut : 3 tbsp
  • Salt: to taste
Instructions
  1. Wash the beaten rice and drain the water completely.
  2. Add the beaten rice, semolina, scrapped coconut to a large bowl. Add the buttermilk to soak the ingredients completely. Keep aside for 3-4 hours.
  3. Grind the ingredients along with jaggery and salt to taste. You would have a thick batter. A little water or buttermilk can be added to make the batter of desired consistency to drop in the appe pan.
  4. Heat a appe pan. Add a drop of oil in each of the cavities. Add a spoonful of batter in each of the cavity. Cover with a lid on a medium flame.
  5. Once the batter has firmed enough, gently turn the appe to cook uniformly on both sides till golden brown. Your soft, sweet and sour buttermilk appe are ready.
