Serves: 3-4
- Paneer: 1 and ¼ cup cut into ½ inch pieces
- All purpose flour (maida) : ¼ cup
- Red Chili Powder: 1 tsp
- Garam Masala: ¾ tsp
- Pepper Powder: ½ tsp
- Ginger Paste: 1 tsp
- Garlic Paste: 1 tsp
- Dried Basil: ½ tsp
- Dried Oregano: ½ tsp
- Salt: to taste
- Bread Crumbs: ½ cup
- Oil: to deep fry
- Mix together the Maida, ¾ tsp chili powder, garam masala, pepper powder, ginger paste, garlic paste, dried basil, dried oregano and salt to taste.
- Add a little less than ¾ cup of water to the maida mixture and make a thick paste. The paste should not be very runny.
- In the bread crumbs, add salt to taste and ¼ tsp red chili powder.
- Add the paneer cubes to the maida mixture and then dip it in the bread crumbs to coat it.
- Keep the paneer pieces in the refrigerator for 15 minutes.
- Heat the oil in a kadai. Once hot, deep fry the paneer pieces till golden brown and crispy.
- The paneer popcorn tastes good when eaten with tomato ketchup.
