Sponge Cake

A very basic sponge cake recipe by Tarla Dalal. This sponge cake is great to eat by itself or also can be used in recipes like Trifle.
Ingredients
  • All Purpose flour : 1 and ½ cup
  • Baking Powder: 1 and ½ tsp
  • Butter: ¾ cup
  • Powdered Sugar: 1 cup
  • Eggs: 3
  • Vanilla Essence: 1 tsp
  • Milk: 5 tbsp
Instructions
  1. Sift together the all purpose flour and baking powder.
  2. Cream together the butter and sugar in a bowl. Add to it, one egg at a time and whisk well.
  3. Add the flour to the butter mixture and whisk well. Add vanilla essence and milk and whisk well.
  4. Grease a baking tray and pour the cake mixture in it.
  5. Bake in a preheated oven for 30 minutes at 200 degrees Celsius.
