Blancmange pronounced as “Bla – monge” is a very easy milk based dessert. The blancmange recipe here uses chocolate but you can have vanilla or fruit flavored varieties.

Below is the step by step recipe for chocolate Blancmange with pictures.
Makes : 6 small servings
Preparation Time : 5 min
Cooking Time : 10 min
Ingredients:
Sugar : 1.5 tbsp
Cocoa Powder : 1 tsp
Milk : 1 cup
Dark Chocolate : 1/4th cup heaped(finely chopped)
Corn Flour : 3 heaped tsp
Vanilla Essence : 2-3 drops
Strawberries : as required for garnishing (optional)
Method of Preparation:
- Add sugar, corn powder and cocoa powder in small bowl and mix well.
- Take a thick bottomed pan and add the milk, vanilla essence and the mixture of step 1.
- Add in the chocolate and keep the pan on a medium or low flame.
- Keep stirring until the mixture thickens(almost for 15 min or so). The mixture should be quite thick for it to set well.
- Transfer this in individual serving or into ramekins. Chill till it is set (at least 4 hours). Either serve in the same mould or demould and serve. Garnish as per your choice.
