Dates are an excellent source of iron which determine the oxygen carrying capacity of the blood.
This date tamarind chutney is usually served with chats like ragda pattice, sprouts chat, shev puri, dahi puri or also with some snacks like samosas, kachoris and hot and sour idlis.

Ingredients:
Deseeded Dates: 1 cup
Deseeded Tamarind: 2 tbsp
Jaggery: 1/2 cup
Chilli Powder: 1/2 tsp
Cumin Powder: 1/2 tsp
Salt: to taste
Method of Preparation:
- Add 1 cup of water to the deseeded dates , tamarind and jaggery . Pressure cook for 2 whistles.
- Cool the pressure cooked mixture and blend to smooth paste.
- Add 1 and 1/2 cup of water, chilli powder, cumin powder and salt and mix well.
