Sponge Cake

A very basic sponge cake recipe by Tarla Dalal.

Preparation Time: 5 minutes
Cooking Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients:

All Purpose flour : 1 and 1/2 cup
Baking Powder: 1 and 1/2 tsp
Butter: 3/4 cup
Powdered Sugar: 1 cup
Eggs: 3
Vanilla Essence: 1 tsp
Milk: 5 tbsp

Method of Preparation:

  1. Sift together the all purpose flour and baking powder.
  2. Cream together the butter and sugar in a bowl. Add to it, one egg at a time and whisk well.
  3. Add the flour to the butter mixture and whisk well. Add vanilla essence and milk and whisk well.
  4. Grease a baking tray and pour the cake mixture in it.
  5. Bake in a preheated oven for 30 minutes at 200 degrees Celsius.
